Sara McGoun

1. Tell us a bit about yourself! What perspectives, skills, or experiences are you most proud to bring to PBFA/I?

Having grown up in the association world, advocating for members is in my career DNA. Getting to do this with companies dynamically disrupting the food system for the better has me on cloud nine! I love learning about members and connecting people.

2. What is your role with PBFA/PBFI?

I work with PFBA’s ingredient suppliers and affiliate members as part of the membership team. From the point of joining PBFA to your renewal, I’m here to help connect members and ensure they take advantage of our growing list of unique benefits. Bonus: I’m everyone’s point of contact for sponsorships!

3. What inspired you to get into your line of work? How does this connect to your “why” for working in the plant-based industry/food systems?

While I’ve always prioritized mission-aligned work, my perspective deepened when I became vegan nearly thirteen years ago. Not only did I want to live a plant-based life, but I was drawn to shift my career in ways that enabled me to advocate for a better food system to benefit animals, people, and the environment. I have to pinch myself sometimes because PBFA is such a great fit!

4. Take your pick! Answer one of the following: What’s your favorite: Dish, Hobby, Inspirational Quote, Book, or Animal?

My favorite book is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s a treasure of beautiful, simple lessons. I’m always gifting it to graduates!
