Status (4/13/21): Unfortunately, the bill died in Appropriations, last amended on 06/24/19.

California Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian of the 46th Assembly District recently introduced a groundbreaking bill, A.B. 479, dubbed the California Climate-Friendly Food Act, to incentivize K-12 public schools across the state to serve more plant-based foods.

The Plant Based Foods Association is highly supportive of this bill because it means we could increase access to plant-based meal options for six million students! By providing additional reimbursement to schools that serve a plant-based entrée or milk option, A.B. 479 will help level the playing field for plant-based foods in schools in California.

The deadline to contact your representative is March 29th so please contact your state representative today, encouraging them to support A.B. 479. Just click here to contact your representative! Scroll all the way to the bottom to submit your letters.
